Balloon Banter

Material
  • Balloons
 
Steps
  • The children must keep the balloons in the air.
  • When the leader shouts “Balloon Banter”
  • The children must freeze and answer a question or an “exercise” like jumping jack.

CRAFT

Jacob and Esau colouring wheel
Use the colouring wheel to tell the story of twin brothers. (Genesis 25, 27)


Material
  • Markers / crayons
  • Scissors
  • Cardboard ( 2 circles)
  • Hole punch & Pencil
  • Fastener (1 per child)

Steps
  • Cut out two circles.
  • You download pictures or ask the children to draw the pictures of Jacob and Esau story.

Suggestions:
  • Isaac and Rebekah (pregnant) Parents
  • Jacob and Esau - babies
  • Esau sold his firstborn birthright to Jacob for a bowl of red lentil stew
  • Rebekah helped Jacob put animal skins on his arms to deceive his father, Isaac into giving him the blessing.
  • Esau furious over his lost birthright and blessing.
  • After many years Jacob and Esau reconciliation

Color the pictures
  • Place the top wheel (the one with a “window” cut out) over the bottom wheel.
  • Fasten the metal brad (split pin) in the centre to allow the wheels to spin.

GAME

Stew Relay
Team race to “cook” a meal by collecting ingredients tied to Esau selling his birthright for a bowl of stew.


Material
  • A bowl per team
  • Utensils
  • Find several pictures or empty containers of ingredients to make a stew. 
  • Mix in pictures of animals, toys etc)
 
Steps
  • Mix all the pictures and placed them upside down on a table or on the floor.
  • Put a bowl at the end of the room.
  • Divide the children into teams. Ask them to form a line.
  • First team done their stew.

CREATIVE SNACK

Material
  • Banana
  • Kiwi
  • Grapes

Steps
  • Body: Peel a banana and place it on a plate
  • Arms/legs: Slice a kiwi lengthwise into four canoe-shaped pieces to create fuzzy limbs, placing them around the banana body
  • Head: Place a green grape at the top of the banana for the head.
  • You can also use halved grapes for feet.
  • For the eyes, small raisons, chocolate chips or tiny kiwi seeds.

Material
  • Long pretzels
  • Small pretzels
  • Small Twisted pretzels
  • Bugle (snack)
  • Small marshmallows
  • Icing

Steps
  • Place a Bugle on its wide end to serve as the angel’s gown.
  • Take one small marshmallow and use a small dab of icing as ‘’glue’’ to attach it to to the pointed top of the Bugle.
  • Apply icing to the mini twist style pretzel and press against it until it sticks.
  • Optional: For an Halo you can use cheerios cereals

OBJECT LESSON

Deception Game : What’s in the Cup?

Material
  • 3 opaque cups

Steps
  • Use three opaque cups.
  • Hide a candy under one cup.
  • Switch the cups rapidly.
  • Ask the children to guess where is the candy.

Switching them rapidly to represent how deceived his blind father, Isaac, for the blessing.
