TRIGGER

Material
  • none

Steps
  • Ask: “Have you ever been afraid to talk to someone you didn’t like or someone who was mean?”
  • Share: “Today’s story is about Ananias. God asked him to help Saul – a man who’d been hurting Christians! Ananias felt scared, but God promised to help him.”

Discussion
Invite kids to share a time they did something brave even though they were scared.

CRAFT

Material
  • Cardboard cut-out of eyeglasses from paper
  • Stickers
  • Scissors
  • Markers

Instructions
  1. Give each child a cut-out of eyeglasses from paper (or cardstock).
  2. Provide markers and stickers.
  3. Kids decorate their glasses, then write “God Helps Me See!” on the sides.

When Ananias prayed for Saul, something like scales fell off and Saul could see again. These glasses remind us of how God changes our hearts.

How to play
  1. Post three labeled signs in the room: "Saul," "Jesus," and "Ananias."
  2. Read quotes or actions from the story (e.g., “Who said ‘Brother Saul, the Lord sent me to help you’?”)
  3. Kids walk or run to the correct sign.
  4. Celebrate correct answers and review if missed.

This helps kids remember each person’s part, and Ananias’ brave yes to God.

CREATIVE SNACK

Material
  • Cups of round cereal (like Cheerios) or grapes

Step
  • Serve cups of round cereal (like Cheerios) or grapes — something shaped like "scales."

Discussion
Explain: “When Ananias prayed, the scales fell off Saul’s eyes. This snack helps us remember God can help us see and change too.”

OBJECT LESSON

Material
  • Show a box of band-aids

Steps
  • Show a box of band-aids.
  • Stick one on your sleeve.
  • Say: “When someone is hurting or scared, God sometimes sends us to help—like He sent Ananias. Our prayers and kindness can be like a bandage that helps others heal or feel better.”
  • Give a paper band-aid to each child to write ‘God helps me help others!’
Dear God, sometimes you ask us to do things that seem hard. Thank You for being with us, just like you helped Ananias. Help us say yes to You, even when we’re afraid. Make us brave, and help us see others the way you do, in Jesus' name, amen.
